Project Overview
Grogu is an AirBnB style application that allows users in the Star Wars universe to rent out space ships and other vehicles to other users. The application was built in Ruby on Rails, and developed over a week-long sprint during the Le Wagon Bootcamp. The goal was to create a functional MVP that allowed users to create an account, list their vehicles, and book other vehicles. Each user chose to be either light side or dark side, and their UI would change accordingly!
One of the highlights of working on Grogu was designing the beautiful star map, and the ability to use a lot of creativity in the design of the site. The star map uses the Mapbox API to display a heavily altered version of Europe and made transparent to give it the far, far away effect.
